We loved you so much that we were delighted to share with you not only the Gospel of God but our very lives as well, because you had become so dear to us. (I Thessalonians 2:8)

SHARE INTERNATIONAL WOMEN & CHILDREN PROGRAM
SIWCP's mission is to enlarge ministry to women and children in the villages where SI has planted churches to include:
  • Weekly Bible teaching sessions
  • Nutrition programs,
  • Children activities.

  • The women & children ministry takes place in the villages where SI has planted churches. The ministry focuses on sharing the love of Jesus with the women and children in the simplest way possible. SI staff lead weekly Bible teaching sessions and activities.
The SI Women and Children Program (SIWCP) Coordinator in Turkanaland reports that most of the women in the churches are very eager to learn the Word of God –
“They are always at the church for Bible study and fellowship on time. God has been meeting family needs as they pray together. The husbands have not been very encouraging. Many of them discourage their wives from leaving home to attend the Bible study sessions. But the women have remained determined to go."

Health needs of an average 70 women are attended to by the SI Health Program (SIHP) team in each church every two weeks during the SIWCP Bible study sessions. Most are attracted to the sessions by soap and biscuits that the program provides.
The SIWCP and SIHP staff team-teaches on subjects such as HIV/AIDS, general hygiene, feeding children, and dealing with marriage issues.
Some of the anticipated ministries for the women include quarterly seminars where subjects such as nutrition, leadership, teaching, and literacy will be discussed. Keen women in the churches have requested small loans to start small businesses in their villages. They have also requested more teaching materials.
Many children accompany the women to their Bible study sessions. The children enjoy playing games on church compounds while the mothers attend the sessions. Most of these children need clothing. One of the churches has about 50 children who need help to meet basic necessities. The program has established that many of these children are orphans. SI is now considering the possibility a fostering ministry under SIWCP for these children by Turkana Christian families.
